UK Charts: A New Tennis Season, But Can Mario Serve Up a Win?

The UK gaming charts are like a tennis match, with new releases serving up some strong performances, but it's not always enough to take the trophy. This week, we're looking at the physical charts and seeing how the newcomers are faring against the established titles.
The biggest news for Nintendo Switch fans is Mario Tennis Fever, which has put up a strong performance in its debut week, landing in second place. It's just one place behind EA SPORTS FC 26, which retains its crown. This is a big win for Nintendo, but it's not enough to take the top spot.
A couple of third-party releases have also served up some decent numbers in week one. Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties punches up in sixth place, with only 10% of sales coming on Switch 2. The excellent Reanimal creeps out of the shadows in fourth place.
But here's where it gets interesting. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has finally dropped from the top 10, and The Sims 4: Royalty & Legacy has made a new entry in fifth place. This is a big surprise for some, and it's a reminder that the charts can be unpredictable.
