Get ready for an exciting journey as we dive into the ongoing transformations at Disney's Hollywood Studios! The magic never stops, and neither do the projects! From reimagined courtyards to new snack spots, there's a lot to uncover.
Let's explore the three main projects that are currently in the works:
Animation Courtyard:
This area is getting a complete makeover, transforming into a space inspired by the iconic Walt Disney Studios or The Magic of Disney Animation. Most of the courtyard, including Star Wars Launch Bay and the Disney Jr. theater, has been closed to guests since September 24. The entire space is currently hidden behind construction walls, except for the beloved Little Mermaid musical, which can be accessed from a specific pathway.
The updated building will feature a facade resembling Mickey's Sorcerer Hat, paying homage to the Roy E. Disney Animation Building in Burbank, California, and the former park icon. Fresh paint has been applied to the buildings housing the Disney Jr. and Little Mermaid shows, with a new tan/pale yellow color scheme.
But here's where it gets controversial... Will the "fresh Disney Jr. show" at the soundstage retain its name, or will it be rebranded? Only time will tell!
Toy Story Land Popcorn Kiosk:
Step into Toy Story Land, where a new snack stand is taking shape! The kiosk is being built in the space previously occupied by a Toy Story Land sign. This addition follows Disney's recent installation of shades at Woody's Lunch Box seating area. After nearly four years, construction walls have finally been removed from the Toy Story Mania exit queue.
Despite the progress, the area surrounding the kiosk still needs some finishing touches. Fun details like frill-tipped toothpicks holding up the awnings and corrugated cardboard around the food windows add a unique touch. It seems like the opening is just around the corner, but we'll keep you posted on any further developments!
Former Muppets Courtyard:
Get ready for a monster-sized transformation! The former Muppets Courtyard is making way for Monstropolis, including the highly anticipated Monsters, Inc. door coaster. While Gonzo's Royal Flush remains relatively untouched, the building housing the restrooms and former PizzeRizzo is likely to be reimagined.
The MuppetVision 3D theater is also set for a makeover, with its attraction marquee already torn down. However, the building facade hasn't undergone many changes yet. Stage 1 Company Store, unfortunately, has been completely demolished, but we can expect to see new structures taking shape soon.
And this is the part most people miss... The Muppets aren't gone for good! They're set to take over the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, currently starring Aerosmith. Disney has already shared exciting concept art, details, and a logo for the upcoming Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets.
