The highly anticipated sequel to the critically acclaimed video game 'Control' is set to release in 2026, according to developer Remedy Entertainment. The follow-up, officially titled 'Control Resonant', promises an expansive, reality-warping playground of choice, power, and consequence. Players will step back into the supernatural New York setting, this time as Dylan Faden, Jesse Faden's brother who was kidnapped years ago following a series of paranormal events. The game picks up as Dylan's former captors, the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), deploy him at the peak of a supernatural crisis to combat a mysterious cosmic entity. Dylan must harness his newfound powers to take the fight to the myriad threats overwhelming Manhattan. On his path to unlocking the full potential of his supernatural abilities, Dylan will also seek out his sister, FBC Director Jesse Faden, as he struggles to comprehend and contain the dangers that have spilled beyond the confines of the Oldest House to tear the world apart.
The news of the much-anticipated follow-up game was announced at The Game Awards on Thursday, nearly seven years after the original 'Control' was released. The game will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, and Mac via Steam and the App Store. Annapurna Pictures are co-financing and co-producing 'Control Resonant' as part of a strategic partnership with Remedy Entertainment, who will self-publish.
'Control' sold more than 2 million copies in the first 15 months following its debut, and as of August, lifetime sales have exceeded 5 million copies, according to Remedy. Mikael Kasurinen, the creative director of the game, stated, 'Control Resonant' pushes our paranormal action RPG series into an expansive, reality-warping playground of choice, power, and consequence. You don’t have to know the first game to jump into the sequel, we’ve made this one easy to pick up and hard to put down. We’re pushing the scale beyond anything we’ve done before, elevating combat, exploration, and storytelling into a bigger, more memorable experience. It’s ambitious, a little wild, and we can’t wait for players to get lost in it.
